Welcome to the kids zone, this part of the website is for primary school children aged between 4 to 11. At regualr intervals a story from the bible will placed her for the children to read or parents to read to the children. It might be better to print the page and read it together. There will be an activity which could be a puzzle or colouring in for the children to do.

This story is about Cornelius, this story is chosen because it is the name of the church Yellowfella worships at The Church of Cornelius.

Peter visits a Roman Centurion
In a town called Caesarea, there lived a man called Cornelius. He was a Roman Centurion and was in charge of a lot of soldiers. Even though he hadn’t heard of Jesus, he also believed in God, shared his money with others and was always praying.

One afternoon Cornelius saw an angel. “Cornelius,” said the angel. “What is it?” asked Cornelius. The angel said, “God has heard you praying and saw how kind you are. Now, send some men to a town called Joppa where a man called Peter is staying. He is at the house of Simon who lives by the sea.” Then the angel left him. Straight away Cornelius sent two servants and a soldier to invite Peter to visit him.

The next day Peter set off. (There were lots of rules about going into other people’s houses, but Peter still went.) When he got there, he found Cornelius and all his friends waiting for him. Peter said, “I would like to know why you sent for me.” So Cornelius told Peter the whole story. “Now we are waiting to hear what God has commanded you to say,” he said.

“Now I realise that the message of Jesus is for everyone,” exclaimed Peter. And he began to tell them the Good News of Jesus: how Jesus died but rose from the dead and appeared to the Apostles and many others. Peter was still speaking when the Holy Spitit came on all who were listening. “Wow!” said Peter. “God gives his Holy Spirit to everyone!” So Cornelius and all his friends were baptised that day and became followers of Jesus.

Say a prayer to the Holy Spirit.
In the story, Peter realised that God gives his Holy Spirit to everyone.
Ask the Holy Spirit to help you at home, at school and in everything you do.
